At 13, Tara Khaleesi is learning how to carry the voice she has always had at home into friendships, school, group chats, boundaries, attention and the wider world. At 47, Zeynep is learning what it means to become the mother of a teenager while her own body, fears and expectations are changing too.
Across 13 Chapters, Zeynep and Tara Khaleesi revisit the moments that shaped them both into the mother and daughter they are today.
WHY TWO VOICES MATTER
Tara Khaleesi enters this book as a full co-author. She writes from inside adolescence as it unfolds, in her own voice, with her own humor, reasoning, and conclusions.
Zeynep writes as the adult responsible for safety, boundaries, and care; and as a woman examining the fears and patterns she does not want to pass down.
Each voice stands on its own. Together, they reveal how the same moment can look and feel completely different from two honest perspectives, and how a relationship can remain close enough to hold both.
